Heatwave-driven Rewiring of Coastal Food Webs
Marine heatwaves are among the most pervasive consequences of climate change in coastal oceans. In this project, we investigate how marine heatwaves reorganise or rewire food webs by altering species interactions, biodiversity, and ecosystem functioning.
Combining mesocosm experiments, DNA metabarcoding, ecological network analysis, and ecosystem modelling, we aim to predict how warming reshapes coastal ecosystems.
This project is funded by the Research Council of Finland through an Academy Research Fellowship (2024–2028).
